Bowel Cancer UK

Lifescan supports Bowel Cancer UK by making a donation to this leading UK charity for every Colon Check we undertake. Bowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice. Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK, with over 16,000 people dying each year - one person every 30 minutes. The good news is if diagnosed at the earliest stage, bowel cancer is highly treatable. This is why the charity undertakes health promotion and awareness campaigns - to encourage people to recognise the symptoms of the disease and to act on their concerns. The Stroke Association

Lifescan is also a supporter of The Stroke Association, the only UK wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages, and makes a donation for any unencumbered heart scan undertaken.

A stroke is a brain attack. It has a greater disability impact than any other medical condition. Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke and a quarter of a million people in the UK are living with long-term disabilities, such as mobility difficulties, communication problems and cognitive and psychological changes, as a result of stroke.

The Stroke Association funds research, helps stroke patients and their families directly through its Life After Stroke Services, and campaigns, educates and informs to increase knowledge of stroke at all levels of society.
