My husband and I went to Lifescan to make sure we were ok.

Within hours of my scan one of the Lifescan doctors called me to say he had found a large mass on my left kidney and that I needed to see my GP as soon as possible. Within two weeks I had my left kidney removed and even in that short time the tumour had grown half an inch. It was a shock as I had no symptoms and felt well. My scan showed a nodule on my right lung but, being a lifelong non-smoker, I was not especially alarmed and Lifescan recommended a follow up scan in six months. This, however, showed it had increased in size and the Radiologist referred his findings to my GP who quickly referred me to the Chest Clinic at Barnet Hospital.

Following their investigations, the outcome was surgery at Harefield Hospital to remove the affected section of lung. They confirmed it was an early stage tumour; had it not been detected until symptoms were present, the chances of a successful outcome would have been poor.

Now four months later, I am recovering well. I cannot speak highly enough of the Lifescan service and have recommended it to several friends who have also been very pleased. It is, without doubt, the best investment I have ever made.

Like many people I had no symptoms, I just went for a health check. Following my scan, Lifescan found a fatty mass in my abdomen and said I needed to see a specialist - subsequently I was treated for liposarcoma - a very rare tumour in the abdomen. I think its the best thing I've ever done and for the money it costs, you owe it to yourself and your family to do it.
