What's included?

All the scans within the Lifescan Check:

  • Heart scan
  • Lung scan*
  • Abdomen scan (does not include the colon and therefore if you are aged 45 and over we would recommend the Lifescan Enhanced Check Plus)
  • Bone mineral density analysis

Full lipid profile (cholesterol)

A blood test giving a breakdown of your cholesterol (blood fat) result, including HDL and LDL (the so called ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cholesterols) and triglycerides – a high level of cholesterol increases your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Lung function and lung age test

To establish how well your lungs are functioning.  It simply involves breathing long and hard into a special device, which will monitor how well your lungs are functioning and give an estimation of how ‘old’ your lungs are compared to your actual age.  If your lung age is substantially older than your current age it can indicate that lifestyle or medical conditions may be having an impact on your lung function.  Often taking sensible steps to help your lungs work harder can reverse these results.

As the Lifescan Check Plus includes a Full Lipid Profile you will be asked to fast for 6 hours before your appointment to ensure we get the most accurate result possible.
