What to Expect

Lifescan health checks take place at our comfortable and modern centres around the UK. On the day of your appointment please wear comfortable clothing and if possible avoid metal fastenings such as zips and hooks as this can affect the clarity of the imaging. Please do not be concerned if this is not feasible as our Radiographers will work around what is comfortable for you.

When you arrive for your appointment, a member of staff will confirm your identity and that you have completed all the paperwork required for your health check.

Having a CT scan

The Radiographer will go through the whole process with you before starting the scan. You will lie on a table and be asked to hold your breath as you pass through a large open ring. During this time hundreds of high resolution images of your body will be gathered which our Consultant Radiologists will review in order to prepare your personal report. This detailed written report will usually be sent to you approximately three to five working days after your appointment.
All of your results and images are completely private and secure. Lifescan will not release any of your information to anyone, including your GP, without your permission and signed consent.

For more information please read Our Philosophy.

Having a blood test

If you have added a blood test(s) to your CT scan or a blood test(s) is included within your appointment, the radiographer will explain the process of your particular test(s) and ensure that the process is as quick and comfortable as possible. In most cases your test will only take a short time and your personal report will be prepared and sent out to you with your CT scan report.

Having a mole check

The Mole Screening Technician will go through the whole process before starting the appointment. Please note you will need to remove your clothing but not your underwear for the full visual examination (Full Mole Check).

On the day of your appointment an initial verbal result will usually be available. This will be followed up by a full written report and a copy of the images taken approximately five working days after your appointment. All images are reviewed and verified by a Consultant Dermatologist or Consultant Plastic Surgeon, prior to any report being sent out.
